A: In order for poppy seeds to cause a positive opiates test result, a person would need to consume thousands of seeds within the previous three days. The standard "cut off" level for Drug Test Central's opiates tests is 300 nanograms (ng). If someone has 150ng in his or her urine, it will show as a negative. The cutoff protects the test from "innocent positives."
